Where would you normally use this galvanised pipe fitting?
The 144 Side Support is a palm-type fitting, often used to attach guardrail uprights to walls, staircases and ramps.
In standard form, the tube cannot pass through the bottom of the fitting, although the fitting may be modified to accommodate this.
NOTE: Access to one of the fixing holes is limited and may restrict the length and type of fixing that may be used. Dependent on load requirements, type 145 may sometimes be used as an alternative.
What size pipe does it fit to?
This fitting will work with galvanised pipe (tube) of an outside diameter of approximately 42mm.
What is it made out of?
All of the pipe fittings are made from malleable iron and then hot-dipped galvanised to exceed the requirements of AS NZS 4680:2006, giving a durable corrosion resistant finished surface for extended life. A second additional coating is then applied over the top of the galvanising, to enhance further the corrosion protection and to offer a premium quality, aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Can it be used for exterior application?
As the fitting is hot-dipped galvanised, it is more than suitable for use outside.
How do you fix it to the galvanised pipe (tube)?
No welding is required; as all pipe fittings come with a hexagonal key that allows for quick connection of the fitting to the pipe.
