Where would you normally use American Oak handrails?
As a handrail, either attached to the wall or as part of the balustrade on a staircase.

What is it made out of?
The handrail is made from SELECT grade Plantation-grown American Oak.

The material may consist of both solid and finger-jointed pieces (see photos), with lengths over 3m always being finger-jointed. The timber is typically clear and defect-free, though minor natural features like gum veins, surface checking, tight knots, and black specks are allowed under SELECT grading rules. These defects give the timber its character, and will not be considered in the case of a refund being requested.

The handrail is constructed by laminating two pieces of timber together, using glue that is suitable for interior use only. For exterior applications, we recommend the 43mm Designer Rail.

How should you finish it?
If looking for a natural finish, then a clear lacquer will be fine; or you can use a stain to achieve your desired colour then use a clear lacquer to finish it off. Speak to your local paint retailer for more info.
