60mm diameter Dowel (Vic Ash) - Bulk Buy / Random Lengths

This is a bulk-buy product sold by the metre. It will be supplied in random lengths. It has a minimum purchase quantity 25 metres.
If you require set lengths or a smaller quantity of rail, this product can also be purchased in individual lengths.

What is it made out of ?
Sustainably sourced plantation grown Victorian Ash, which is also know as Tasmanian Oak or Australian Oak.

The dowel is actually made up of 2 pieces of timber that have been laminated together.
The reason why this is done is because Victorian Ash is not available in sizes greater than 50mm.

For us to finish 60mm in diameter we need to start with material that is 4 to 5mm thicker, which means that the only way we can achieve that is to glue 2 pieces together.
The glues we use are suitable for interior application only. If you wish to use our timber dowel for exterior application, then we suggest you use our 43mm Dowel range or below.

We use SELECT grade timber, the highest quality available. However, over time, the overall quality of Victorian Ash has changed, and so have the grading standards. While it is not entirely free of defects, features like gum veins, surface checking, tight knots, and black specks are now permissible under the SELECT grading rules. These natural imperfections add unique character to the timber and are not grounds for refunds. Please see the product images.

How should you finish it ?
If looking for a natural finish, then a clear lacquer will be fine; or you can use a stain to achieve your desired colour then use a clear lacquer to finish it off.
